She sounds like a Scandinavian singer when actually she grew up in Boston.
Her music is a combination of folk, grunge and catchy pop hooks.
With a distinctive voice, relatable lyrics, Margaret Glaspy‘s debut album EMOTIONS AND MATH is the 2016 softer sequel to Alanis Morissette’s Jagged Little Pill.
She deals with her every day neuroses and anxieties, self-consciousness, long-distance relationships and calendar keeping. Because the songs are about every day tasks, anyone can relate to it. She found out when she was diagnosed that music is the best therapy. So after she saw the improvement of some patients she thought about making her own music therapy sessions for anybody that suffers the same and is passionate about music.
She started studying music at a very young age with music lessons in home with a very professional teacher her parents payed. She then began to experiment with different genres and mixing roots and finally came up with her project if mixed music.
Listening to Margaret’s beautiful voice and emotionally loaded lyrics is like therapy to me. There aren’t enough words to describe her, you’ll simply have to give her a listen.
