A couple of weeks ago, Grosvenor Casino invited myself and a few other local bloggers for a masterclass at their Didsbury branch.
Having only been to a casino once before (betting at https://uk.mansionbet.com/sports/golf/ mostly), it was a great opportunity for us to learn how to play roulette, black jack and poker.
Gambling is quite controversial but I had to find out for myself and my motto is: ‘Don’t knock it, until you try it.’
The venue itself is beautiful, so even if you’re not a gambler, it’s a lovely location for drinks and the barkeepers sure know how to concoct the finest spirits.
First stop: Black Jack
’21’ is one of my favourite films and back in school, we were taught how to count cards as well. Oops, I just said that out loud, didn’t I?! No need to worry, I didn’t that night. While you may play this card comparing game with other players, you’re only competing with the dealer. Aim is, to beat the dealer by getting 21 points.
Second stop: Roulette
Third and final stop: Poker
I love poker. I never quite understood how the boys could spend an entire night playing poker. I do now. We ended up playing for quite a while. Here’s one crucial advice though – stick to one or two glasses of alcohol! You want to be making logical decisions and as we all know, our judgement gets clouded when being intoxicated.
A few general facts: In order to enter one of the Grosvenor Casinos, you need to sign up upon arrival. You will then receive a membership card (free of charge) which you can use in all of their branches. In case you’ve never been to a casino before, I would definitely recommend a masterclass beforehand. Get familiar with all the rules in a non-competitive environment.
